Imagine losing weight AND getting relief from many types of symptoms. Following a detox diet for weight loss can help relieve you of acne, asthma, allergies, arthritis, asthma, congestion, bloating, cravings, dark circles under eyes, fatigue, depression, digestive disorders, gas, headaches, high blood sugar, high cholesterol, irritability, insomnia, mental fog, mood swings, and more!
Following a detox diet for weight loss leaves you metabolically better by eliminating certain foods that can cause symptoms of intolerance. It is designed to do more than just help you lose weight. It decreases inflammation and detoxifies, as well as lessens the burden on the liver. A detox diet also aids in the restoration of bowel function, digestion, and absorption of nutrients. In eliminating foods that cause sensitivities, you get slim, healthier and look better.
Eliminating foods doesn’t mean eliminating all foods, unlike those detox diets you may have heard of that involve a period of not eating any kind of solid food. Those kinds of cleanses leave you feeling hungry, tired, and can bring your mood down as well. That’s exactly the opposite of what I want to achieve for you!
The key to following a detox diet for weight loss is to eliminate empty carbohydrates, and foods that have a tendency to cause sensitivities that lead to weight gain, inflammation and illness while increasing your intake of protein, fruits & veggies, and healthy fats. What you’re eliminating from your diet are things like sugars, artificial sweeteners, some grains and overly processed foods.
Good Foods On A Detox Diet For Weight Loss
There’s still a tremendous amount of options as to what you can eat on a detox diet for weight loss, so don’t get put off by thinking you won’t be able to eat the foods you love.
For example, on a detox diet for weight loss it’s perfectly acceptable to fill up on all kinds of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. Lean proteins like fish, chicken, and turkey are all OK as well. Healthy fats, such as those found in olives, nuts, seeds, avocados and fish as well as oils made from these are all encouraged.
One thing you may have to get used to is increasing your intake of water and fiber, as you’ll likely need more than what you’re currently used to consuming.
Bad Foods On A Detox Diet For Weight Loss
You might not like what I have to say in this section, but trust me, in the long run you’ll feel better for eliminating these things.
On a detox diet for weight loss you have to cut out so-called empty carbs, which are carbs that are processed, genetically modified and don’t contain many nutrients. These are things like white bread (really anything made with white flour), chips, pastries, cookies, and sugary breakfast cereals.
It’s also recommended that you cut out caffeine and artificial sweeteners. So things like diet soda and coffee are out — and now you may be worried you won’t have enough energy in the morning to get through the day. Don’t worry, if you follow this diet properly you’ll have more energy than anything brewed in a coffee pot will give you.
Alcohol and other liquid calories should be cut out when following a detox diet for weight loss. It should go without saying, but I must remind you that adding adding any kind of sugar or sweetener to your food is strictly prohibited.
These foods that I call the troublesome ten: alcohol, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, corn, dairy, eggs, peanuts, sugar, soy, wheat and anything with gluten in it, must be completely eliminated for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, they are re introduced systematically, one at a time, to determine how you respond. You may be able to continue to eat many of these in moderation. However, you may be surprised that you can be sensitive to some of these foods which are the root cause of illness and ailments.
