The Secret to Glowing Skin. Skin turns over and can be the harbinger of dead cells that cling to the surface. This leaves the skin feeling dry and it looks dull and lifeless. There is a simple technique that uncovers the new, healthy cells leaving your skin soft, silky and glowing as well as providing other benefits.
This technique was commonly used in Ayurvedic medicine to enable lymph flow, detoxification and circulations. Many cultures, including the ancient Greeks and Japanese, have used this technique to cleanse and beautify the skin as well as unclog the lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system is like the sewer of your body, it has to dump toxins into the circulation to be removed. Skin also gets rid of waste. If pores are clogged with dead cells, you can’t effectively sweat out and remove toxins.
This technique has many benefits such as:
- Sloughs off dead, dull, lifeless skin
- Exfoliates naturally and chemical free
- Rejuvenates skin making it soft, smooth and radiant
- Increases circulation
- Unclogs lymph system
- Unclogs pores
- Detoxifies the body
- Stimulates healing
- Stimulates your nervous system
- Invigorates and energizes
- Feels good
- It is safe, easy and free
The technique is dry brushing! Here is how to do it.
- Use a clean, dry brush.
- Choose a soft, natural bristle brush – avoid hard or synthetic bristles.
- A brush with a long handle works best for those hard to reach places.
- Brush prior to your shower when skin is dry.
- Use long sweeping strokes that are very gentle.
- Brush towards your heart.
- Avoid sensitive areas.
- Do this once or twice a day.
- Just a few swipes will work.
- Be gentle on your breast and abdomen and avoid your face.
- Be amazed at how good your skin looks and feels.
Brushing dry skin increases circulation and exfoliation without robbing the skin of moisture the way the hot water in your shower can. Be sure you clean your brush with soap and water and allow it to dry between use. Do not leave it in wet or damp places. You can even rub some alcohol on the bristles after use to keep it clean.
Do Not Dry Brush
- In a hot shower, hot water inflames the skin and robs it of its oils and moisture causing redness and itching.
- On broken, irritated, red, inflamed, sensitive or infected skin
- Your face, use some gentle exfoliant instead
You may also improve gastrointestinal function by brushing from the right lower part of your abdomen in a circular clockwise motion to the upper R, then upper left, then lower left following the path of your colon.
Will dry brushing improve cellulite? Sorry, there is no proof of that but after a little over two weeks, your skin will glow!
